The New Year is almost here and we totally have to create a simple but stunning banner for our celebration! This easy DIY banner with cute “Cheers” saying isn’t only perfect for the New Year but also retro themed parties – which I so love! It’s very easy to assemble too – let me show you how!
Supplies needed to make your own easy DIY banner:
- Gold Glitter Cardstock
- Template
- Black Cardstock
- Scissors
- String
- Thick Foam Sheet
- Hot Glue Gun
- Electronic Die Cutter (optional)
Step 1. Size and cut your stars from gold glitter cardstock. You can definitely cut this by hand if you don’t have an electronic die cutter but the cutter makes it so much faster! If you do hand cut, you can disregard the circle on top – just make it a tip shape like the rest of the design.
Step 2. Size and cut your circles with the letters as well.
Step 3. Cut some foam pieces from the thick foam sheet. This will give our banner some dimension.
Step 4. Attach the foam pieces onto the backs of your letters using hot glue.
Step 5. Again using hot glue, attach your letter right side up onto the star, making sure the part with the circle is on top.
Step 6. We can hang it as is or add more detail to our easy DIY banner! Cut 6 equal pieces of string and tie them up.
Step 7. Attach each string piece onto each star using the circle hole integrated in the design. If you’ve hand cut the design, you can just attach the string onto the back using hot glue.
Step 8. String your letters in the correct order onto a long piece of string. I used about a 2.5-3″ spacing for each of the letters. You can of course adjust the spacing to your liking — and you are done!
This easy DIY banner is perfect on it’s own but add a star garland to accent and it just makes it so much more festive! What party theme do you guys love the most?
